Rhode Red Valencia orange

Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck

CRC 3995
PI 539666
VI 487

Source

Received as budwood from Florida Budwood Registration Program, Winterhaven, Fl, 1988.

Parentage/origins

Apparent this variety is a selection from a mutated branch from a normal Valencia.

Rootstocks of accession

Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange

Season of ripeness at Riverside

March to July

Notes and observations

Jack Hearn: This is a chimera and could revert to normal Valencia through inadvertant selection of mutant bud.

12/1989, EMN: We probably should not release from any trees which have not fruited. Darker color is in both rind and flesh (juice).

Dave Gumpf: Deep orange colored flesh. Matures same as other Valencias. Good crops on citrange and rough lemon. Only real advantage over other Valencias is the deep flesh color.
