Received as seed from Joe Furr, USDA Date & Citrus Station, Indio, CA, 1962.


Parentage/origins

This accession is a cross of [Rangpur lime X Shekwasha] by Chinotto sour orange. Shekwasha is also known as Citrus depressa or Citrus pectinifera.

Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange


Season of ripeness at Riverside

January to March


Notes and observations

3/1987, EMN: Fruit is very sour with some lime-like flavor. Might have use as an ornamental.

2/26/1988: These larger and less compact than Chinotto. Fruits are slightly smaller and much lighter colored than Chinotto fruits; so for ornamental use, Chinotto seems better. Fruit is moderately seedy, light orange flesh, sour.

2/11/2008, OJB, TS & DK: Smooth, thin skin, small fruit; greenish orange flesh; sour, with pleasant lime and sour orange flavor; calamondin-shaped fruit, round leaves, shrubby growing habit.
