Citrus aurantium L.

CRC 3079
PI 539225

Received as seed from Ed Pollock, Parkes, New South Wales, Australia, 1954. Open-pollinated seedling.

C. aurantium 'Bittersweet' x C. sinensis (unknown cultivars, maybe Sathgudi sweet orange)

Rootstocks of accession

Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange

Season of ripeness at Riverside

January to March

Notes and observations

PBL: It is possibly a sport of a bitter orange and Sathgudi sweet orange. It is used as a rootstock for the Sathgudi but is not very good because of its susceptibility to many diseases.

3/1987, EMN: Fruit appears to be a typical sour orange.

2/11/2008: TS &  DK: Hybrid of sweet and sour oranges? Fruit looks like common sour orange.

Not commercially available in California.
