Notes and observations
Variegated Pink-fleshed Eureka lemon is sometimes sold under the name Pink Lemonade and is a sport of the conventional Eureka lemon. The leaves are variegated green and white, making the tree quite ornamental, and the tree grows a little less vigorously than a typical Eureka lemon tree. The rind is striped green and cream and is sometimes rougher than conventional Eureka. When fully ripe, the stripes fade, and the rind turns yellow with distinct pink oil glands. The flesh is light pink at full maturity, low-seeded, and very acidic.
1986, EMN: Is a Eureka lemon variegated sport with pink flesh and pink juice. This accession had exocortis which was removed by shoot tip grafting (STG 212-2).
12/04/1987, EMN: This is an interesting ornamental. The variegation fades as fruit matures but is still present on ripe fruit. Light pink flesh. Will be entered into CCPP for planting in the Lindcove coundation block.
11/1989, EMN: Was entered as VI 472 in fall 1988. Found to have psorosis. Put thru thermotherapy, re-entered as VI 486 in Fall 1989.
