Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck

CRC 3181

PI 539604

Photos by David Karp and Toni Siebert, 1/28/2010, CVC. Photo rights.

Source: Received as seed from seedling from Rubidoux Tract tree of unknown origin, 1915.

Parentage/origins: Parents unknown.

Rootstocks of accession: Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange

Season of ripeness at Riverside: December to January

Notes and observations:

EMN, 12/7/1989: Originated from seed 1915. This accession had psorosis which was eliminated by thermotherapy (Thrmo 1176-5) This appears to be an ordinary navel with no special attributes. Why keep it if it hasn't become a national landmark yet?

EMN, 12/7/1989: STOP! DON'T DISCARD YET! Is among best yielding strains in "navel yields in smog" experiment in the Rubidoux screenhouse.

Availability: Not commercially available in California.
