Notes and observations

Seedling yellows removed by thermotherapy 1986. Looks more like lemonquat or small lemon or lemon hybrid. Fruit larger than Eustis and Lakeland, more spherical and somewhat flattended on end. Flower buds pink as described in The Citrus Industry (vol. 1, pp 579-580). Misidentified for some time as 'Tavares limequat,' but apparently a lemon hybrid. Per M. Roose, 2/21/95: "Molecular markers indicate NOT a kumquat hybrid.

Received as cuttings from Mr. Maxwell, budwood taken from one of these cuttings. This accession had seedling yellows which was removed by thermotherapy (Thrmo 1548-8)--EMN 1986. Was once thought to be Tavares limequat.

EMN, 11/9/1987: This is probably not Tavares; looks more like a lemonquat, or maybe even a small lemon or lemon hybrid without any quat at all. Fruit was compared with Eustis and the old C.I. description and does not fit at all. Fruit is larger than both Eustis and Lakeland, not oval, more spherical & somewhat flattened on the ends.
