How to obtain budwood of standard varieties for personal use:

The Citrus Clonal Protection Program (CCPP) is able to distribute citrus budwood in accordance with California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) to anyone interested in propagating citrus trees for commerical or personal use. Budwood will be HLB-negative, high quality and true-to-type. There are approximately 300 citrus varieties currently available.

Step 1: Create a CCPP budwood account. Send the following information to CCPP at their email address:

-Personal Name
-Address (to receive the budwood package via FedEx)
-Phone number
-Email address
-Driver's license# (for individuals) 


Step 2: After your personal CCPP budwood account has been set up for you, you will be given a username and password.

     Use your username and password to access the CCPP online order form


Additional information:

  • You may order as few as 6 buds.
  • Each bud costs $0.75.
  • There is no credit card information required.
  • Payment can only be made by money order or check.
  • There are monthly budwood cuts.
  • Orders are handled 1 day before the shipment at the first week of the month.
  • Shipments are made by FedEx Overnight Priority.
  • The CCPP does not distribute seeds, rootstock or tree.
