Source: Received as a seedling of CRC #3276, 1966.

 

Parentage/origins: Parents unknown.

 

Rootstocks of accession: Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange

 

Season of ripeness at Riverside: January to March

 

Notes and observations:

Polyembryonic.

2/8/1988, EMN: Orange de Nice is listed in TCI as an acidless orange. Our accession is NOT an acidless orange. It is a typical seedy sweet orange of medium-early maturity.

 

Description from The Citrus Industry Vol. 1 (1967):

" This sugar orange, a variety of the French Riviera, is so similar to the Succari of Egypt and Meski of Tunisia as to be indistinguishable to the writer. "

Availability: Not commercially available in California.
