Hongjian sweet orange

Source: Received as budwood from H-J Su, National Taiwan University, 2003.

 

Parentage/origins: Reported to be a seedling selection of 'Gailiancheng' sweet orange.

 

Rootstocks of accession: Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange

 

Season of ripeness at Riverside: January to March

 

Notes and observations:

2006, RRK: Seedling selection (1971) of 'Gailiangcheng' made at Hongjiang State Farm, Guangdong, PRC. 'Hongjiang' is one of the major cultivars in western Guangdong Province, PRC. It has an orange-red peel and red pulp and ripens in December.

 

Availability: Commercially available in California through the Citrus Clonal Protection Program.
