Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck RUTACEAE

CRC 3860

PI 539624

VI 494

Photos by David Karp and Toni Siebert, CVC. Photo rights.

Source: Received as seed from CRC 1414, old budline Catlin, 1961.

Parentage/origins: Parents unknown.

Rootstocks of accession: Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange

Season of ripeness at Riverside: Unknown at this time.

Notes and observations:

Six seedling budlines were fruited at Lindcove; all appeared identical.

3/23/1987, EMN: Fruit still tart at this time.

2/8/1988, EMN: Appears to be a typical seedy, mid-season sweet orange.

12/1989, EMN: Lab fruit analysis & comparison with Olinda indicates Catlin virtually identical, certainly no better holding for late harvest.

2/26/1990, EMN: Compared to Olinda. Seems virtually identical.

Availability: Commercially available in California through the Citrus Clonal Protection Program.
